About the project
Traditional Romanian culture is a priceless treasure, recognised both nationally and internationally. Yet this craft is in danger of disappearing, and promoting it within communities and through cultural tourism plays a crucial role in preserving it.
The project included ethnographic and documentary research – filmed interviews and photographs of local craftspeople – used to create a documentary film and a cultural brochure. It also brought egg-painting workshops for pupils from the art schools in Brașov and Sebeș, and a travelling exhibition of painted eggs from different Transylvanian regions, including works by visual artist Mariana Andone Rotaru inspired by local traditions.
