The Egorievsk Project
About the project
Since 2005 Kronospan and the Kronospan Foundation have been in a fruitful partnership with Secondary General School No. 5 in Egorievsk, Russia. Through this partnership, the entire student body of approximately 600 children is engaged in various activities such as “Bird’s Day” or “Always Green” throughout the year, contributing toward the development of their school and their local community.
Because we believe that hard work should be rewarded, every school year at Secondary School No. 5 concludes with an Award Ceremony, where the best students of the graduating class are rewarded with a gifts such as tablets, smart-phones and other gift vouchers.
On 26th of June, 2015 44 graduates of schools in Egorievsk were awarded medals by the Russian Federation “For Academic Excellence” and received prizes from the Head of Egorievsk region. The awards ceremony took place in the Great Hall of the Art and History Museum with a Kronospan delegation attending. The Head of Egorievsk region Alexander Grechishchev told the pupils: “Each one of you has achieved this success as a result of your enormous dedication to study, our experienced teachers and the support of your parents”. He stressed that the contribution of each party is vital in achieving such results. Mr. Grechishchev expressed his hope that the graduates will return to their hometown on completion of their education and contribute to the development of Egorievsk and the whole of the Moscow region.
Honoring of highest achieving pupils in Egorievsk has become a tradition. Another tradition is the presentation of gifts by Kronospan employees to the most diligent pupils of the sponsored school: for excellent study, active involvement in school life and sporting achievements.
In addition, for the second year, Kronospan has taken part in making awards to graduates in Elektrogorsk. Two alumni received digital tablets for their academic studies this year.
Bird's day
In the spring season we come together for Bird’s Day to celebrate the return of the birds from the South after the cold winter months.
Supplied by materials from Kronospan, around 30 – 50 students gather to build birdshouses in their home economy classes, which are then placed in trees adjacent to the school, so the students can observe their contribution and impact toward the wild life of the birds all year round.
A New Football Field for Egorievsk
Through the help and cooperation of Mr. Eugenie Aksakov, the head of the Sate Duma and the administration of Egorievsk, we have been able to build a football-field with artificial cover for our school in Egorievsk.
This field is the only one of its kind in the Moscow region and not only encourages local students to play, but also draws in visitors from other schools.
Egorka Rehabilitation Center
Egorka is a rehabilitation center in Egorievsk for children with disabilities, serving over 100 children from the area.
In 2014, 7 of these children left the center to go to school. The Kronospan Foundation supported them by hosting a graduation ceremony for the children and their parents, at which they received a graduation certificate as well as fully equipped school bags. In spite of their existing health problems, the children are ready for this next big step in their lives and their parents could not be prouder of them.
