Scope, Objective, Theme

The Contest “Architecture & Design Competition – WOOD REINVENTED” is a Contest of architecture projects that are especially prepared for this Contest and are not entered in another similar competition.
The scope of the Contest is the design of an energy-efficient home, with a gross floor area of 100-120 square meters, on a modular timber structure, with exterior/interior finishes.
The objective of the Contest is to support Romanian architects with the purpose of their affirmation and the stimulation of the use of wood-based materials.
The theme which must be honoured by the projects is “Energy-efficient home” – modular system.


Eligible contestants are authorised architects (architecture offices) that are Romanian natural/legal persons or/and Romanian residents, except for: Kronospan employees; families of the Kronospan employees; architects who are members of the Technical Commission or Jury; architecture offices which are members of the Technical Commission or Jury; other persons that are directly or indirectly involved in the organisation of the Contest


  • 21st – 22nd of March 2017 (within GIS) – launch of the Contest
  • 1st of April – 15th of October 2017 – entering of the projects in the Contest
  • 15th – 22nd of October – assessment of the projects by the Technical Commission
  • 23rd of October 2017 – announcement of the 5 nominations
  • 6th – 7th November (within RIFF) – presentation of the nominated projects in front of the Jury and the attending public. After presentation, the Jury shall name the award winning Project

The use of the Kronospan products for the project is not mandatory. If the contestants decide to use Kronospan products for the project, the creative and innovatory use of these products will be scored.

Each Contestant has the right to enter 1 (one) project in the Contest. The Project must contain a maximum number of 3 drawings. Each drawing must be A2 size, resolution 300 DPI, JPG or TIFF format, maximal file size 2 MB.

Each submitted Project shall be accompanied by all required comments (including details related to the decors and products used for each element of the Project) and a short textual presentation of the concept (max. 1000 characters). In case of the use of products from the Kronospan product range, they must be clearly stated in the Project. The creative and innovatory use of the Kronospan products will be scored, depending on the proposed solution.

  • Grand Prize – EUR 5,000

Within 30 calendar days after the awarding ceremony, the winner of the Grand Prize must submit the winning Project to the Organiser, accompanied by all documents and drawings of the Execution Project (PT/Technical Project + DE/Execution Details) and Technical Documentation for Building Permit (DTAC). The Grand Prize shall be transferred to the winner’s account only after fulfilling this obligation. If the winner does not fulfil this obligation, the Organiser shall award the Grand Prize to the next Contestant with the highest score.


All descriptions, comments, texts used by the Contestants for the submitted Project shall be prepared in English. If the Contestants do not use English, the submitted projects shall be disqualified.
